Meanwhile my photobooks Purgatory and Daniel DeForest arrived. Both books still have too many photographs I feel. At the same time the Purgatory book needs some new work. I made the books to have some kind of peaceful overview of my work up to now. Currently I am gathering opinions, if you want to look at the books let me know.
Nowadays photographs are consumed so hastily that I am having trouble to stand my ground. My photographs do not scream at you nor do they overwhelm by the use of some trick. In stead they are tranquil and banal (sometimes) and, if I succeeded, they intrigue only on second sight. Therefore it is imperative that they be presented in the right environment, which is not in a Facebook stream, but in a gallery where any viewer suspects there must be something more to the photograph, because it is after all presented in a gallery. Then the audience will grant the photo this second look that will make them appreciate it more. Working on that.
